A Prayer Break

One of my favorite prayers is attributed to the late Franciscan priest, Father Mychal Judge, who lost his life ministering to the victims of the World Trade Center bombing. My husband, like Father Judge, attended St. Bonaventure University in New York, and like all of the alumni, receives a yearly postcard on the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. Unlike most years, which feature a prayer or saying by the saint, 2002's card contained Father's prayer:

Lord, take me where you want me to go;
Let me meet who you want me to meet;
Tell me what you want me to say,
And, keep me out of your way.

Pithy, direct and full of heart.

  • Such a beautiful prayer. I love when prayer brings a sort of quiet serenity, even in the loudest of settings.
